![]() ![]() I did it because I wanted it to be a fun place where families could come to. We remodeled the building and Fish Tales became a reality. He called me and told me the lease was mine. So I went to Toby and asked if I could lease the place. I tried to buy the owner out but he didn’t want to sell. "I was looking for something to do and there was this small place here (later Fish Tales Restaurant). I have to always have something going," he said with a wide grin. ![]() "I guess I was driving her nuts during that time. Sherri opened a dog grooming business here in Richmond Hill called ‘Pawparazzi,’ which she sold after opening the restaurant. "So we sold that business and I didn’t to anything for about three years. I was doing everything from aerating and spraying the lawns to making sales calls to telemarketing the business. I had just enough money to open the doors. I got into the lawn care business here in Richmond Hill in 1998 by accident. ![]() ![]() One time, even Sherri told me I needed to find myself. "I worked very hard in those days and they very long days, too. We imported lace and crystal from England. I got into the T-shirt business and even the import business. I’ve sold insurance and even solar panels. I’ve been in every business in the world. My father, Gene, had a bunch of restaurants when I was growing up. But I left the family business when I was 20. The youthful-looking couple have been married for more than 35 years and have two sons, Max and Zach and two grandchildren, Marleigh, 3, and Macon, 9. By any stretch of the imagination, Butch Broome is a man with wanderlust in his veins.īutch and Sherri Broome are the owners of family businesses Fish Tales Restaurant and Fort McAllister Marina in south Bryan County. Take the 144A bypass road left for 5 miles at the gas station past the Publix on 144 to the restaurant on the left, x-large grassy parking area across the street.Sherri Broome smiled as husband Butch described the career path that took him from the restaurant business as a young man back to the restaurant business as an adult. Visit Fort McAllister just a mile down the road- great history, playground next to the huge parking lot, fishing dock, museum, campground. Very nice upgraded outdoor thatched-roofed seating area. Although our service was slower than usual, the people here are great and have always been friendly and responsive. There was not a bit left on any of the plates.we had grilled fish sandwiches, crab ravioli, shrimp basket, chicken quesadilla, and a kid's hotdog. During our wait, several of our group took sunset pictures and viewed a dolphin off the dock at the marina just outside the restaurant. Our group of 7 was one of the first to be seated for dinner, but we waited quite a while for our meals to arrive, probably 45 minutes, while smaller tables around us were served. We live here and brought relatives for dinner. We appreciate your bringing these matters to our attention and look forward to hearing from you! Butch Broome Customers continue to tell us how much they love them and cannot find them anywhere else. Our catfish are small and advertised as “Baby Cats”, these Baby Catfish are very difficult to get and for most, they prefer the very small sweet tasting ones over the larger one, that’s why we offer them as all you can eat. I’m not sure about the issue with the crab cakes that particular night but we have taking additional steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again, as we continually strive for consistence and would have gladly replaced your meal had we known of your dissatisfaction during your visit. Again, if you would let me know when you were here, I will review our cameras to see what happened. I’m sure there were parties under 9 that were seated before you. When you arrive, your party will be seated as soon as the appropriate table becomes available. Because we don’t take reservations, we will however, (when someone calls ahead), explain our policy and put your name on the waiting list. Since you have been here before, you would know that we are a very small establishment and only have 3 tables large enough to accommodate parties of 9 or more. I would greatly appreciate it if you would call me at 91 or email me at and let me know the date you were here, as this would allow me to check our schedule to find out who actually took your reservation. Frank K, Please accept my most sincere apology for your experience. ![]()
